And yet, I smile
Do you feel like the world has just lost its mind? It seems everywhere we turn something is happening or someone is saying something that gives us pause, makes us shake our head and wonder. Where’s the decency gone? Where’s the Golden Rule gone? It’s not all politics. It happens in the grocery store line. It happens in the workplace. It happens in the classroom - all different kinds of disappointment. Sometimes I get mad and vent loudly to my family. Sometimes I just blast the music in my car to clear out the clutter in my brain so I’m renewed. Sometimes I laugh because I’m truly befuddled by people.
I’m determined to not follow suit. I’m determined to be a good example - or atleast try to be. And no matter how some say (actually a growing number of people) we are creating our demise, I can’t help but quote a character from a favorite TV show of mine. This character, King Ezekiel in “The Walking Dead,” says something I’m now saying and doing. When I’m touched by disappointment, sadness or lacking in hope I say, like him, “And yet, I smile.” Tell me if that mindset helps you, amidst this world’s insanity. Once we push the insanity aside, there’s still a WHOLE lot of beauty, goodness and hope, I think.
OMG! Kim I couldn't have said it better. Every day I am amazed at some of the things I see and hear while out in the world. Keep on smiling!
